A bowl of water that never moves is easy to ignore. WF020 answers that with movement: a 5V1A pump lifts water out of a 4.2 litre barrel, sends it through a filter tray and returns it to a 304 stainless steel bowl from a small spout on the lid. The result is a surface that keeps rippling, which is the part cats respond to.

The barrel is frosted PC, so the level is readable from across the kitchen without lifting anything. Noise stays at 25 dB, low enough that the unit can stay plugged in overnight, and the whole fountain weighs 945 g when empty.

How the Water Path Works

Water leaves the barrel through the pump, passes the filter tray where the white pleated cartridge and the blue cotton sit, and returns to the bowl through the spout. Nothing in that path is sealed or pressurised: the pump simply keeps the same water moving, and the tray is lifted out by hand for rinsing and cartridge changes.

• Rinse the tray at every refill; hair and crumbs collect there first.
• Replace the cartridge and cotton on the schedule your water quality calls for.
• Wipe the steel lid and bowl with a soft cloth; both are smooth and open to the hand.
